Game Development Update 1/31/14

One of the courses I am taking this semester is a game development class which is focused more on the artistic side of video game making. Over the course, we will be creating two different games, one individual game and one group game that involves the entire class. For my individual game, I am basing it on Hope's final mission from a story I am working on.

Hope is the demolition expert for a rebellion fighting a corrupt government who enslaved mankind. This enemy is called "The Boundary." Hope's final mission is to destroy a mind control server in order to weaken The Boundary's influence over people.

The main part of the game takes place on the rooftops of the city. The game progresses by gathering supplies to build an explosive powerful enough to destroy the server. To stop you from completing your mission are cameras that will summon Boundary Enforcers to capture you if they spot you.

Once the end goal is reached, the floor below you collapses and you land in a cage for a mutation. You need to find the exit, but it will never be reached. Once you reach the end goal of this map, an animation plays to reveal the fate of Hope.

Spring Semester '14 starts (Winter Work)

Okay, so it technically started last week, but there's been a lot of stuff to work on already that will appear here as they develop and finish.

During winter break, I took part in an informal competition among my peers where we are given 3 scribbles and have to create "doodles" based on one of those scribbles. This went on for 4 weeks. Here were my entries to the competition:

Week 1:

 Final Drawing:

Week 2:

Final Drawing (With and without scribble overlay):

Week 3:

Week 4:

Also, as a bonus, I made a doodle of a character for a story I'm working on.

This character and part of the story are both being used to help influence a game I am making in my Game Development class so there will be more updates regarding that in the near future.

New Year, New Look

I've been wanting to change the look of my blog for awhile now and decided that the new year would be a great excuse to finally do it. I decided to create a gif image for the banner using a previous animation I've done (located here) as inspiration. After the banner was finished, I made a new background to go with it. Here are the full banner and background:

If you have any concerns about the new look of the blog, feel free to leave them in the comments section.
